COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – SIUE women’s soccer fell 2-0 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference match at Tennessee Tech.

The Cougars fell to 4-5-3 overall and 3-1-1 in the OVC. The Golden Eagles improved to 5-4-4 overall and 3-0-2 in the OVC.

“Tech was the better team tonight defensively,” said SIUE Head Coach Derek Burton. “That said, we had a number of good individual performances and just couldn’t capitalize on our chances.”

Yao Giada Zhou and Katie Toney scored for the Golden Eagles.

SIUE outshot Tennessee Tech 8-7 and half of his shots were on-goal. Lily Schnieders led the Cougars with three shots. Taylor Dolt added a pair.

Taylor Spiller took the loss in net for the Cougars and finished with two saves. Maggie Conrad boasted four saves in the win.

“Our staff has a tone of confidence in our team though,” said Burton. “Our quality is there. The focus will be on learning what we can from tonight and then turn the page to get ready for Sunday.”

SIUE returns home Sunday for a noon contest at Korte Stadium. The Cougars welcome OVC newcomer Little Rock for Senior Day.
