High gasoline prices in Alabama don’t necessarily mean bad news

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Something unusual is happening in gas prices right now. They typically rise in spring and summer and fall in fall. That doesn’t happen this season, but it’s not all bad.

When it comes to gasoline prices in Alabama, the picture is starting to clear up a bit; they tend downwards.

“Right now, the average is $ 3.19 a gallon, down about two or three cents a few weeks ago,” said AAA spokesman Clay Ingram.

Diesel fuel is another commodity, and according to Clay Ingram, fuel prices for the truckers are likely to stay as demand is high right now, especially around the holiday season.

“When the diesel prices have risen and they have risen now because of the high demand and we are transporting a lot of goods again,” said Ingram.

From a different perspective, the above-average price of gasoline isn’t necessarily a bad thing, even if it’s unusual in the fall.

“The economy is improving, but as you said, this is a bit of a double-edged sword as it comes with higher fuel prices,” Ingram said.

There’s no evidence that high gasoline prices will affect vacation travel this Thanksgiving. In fact, Clay Ingram predicts more than 53 million people this holiday season, 13% more than last year.

The latest figures from AAA show the average cost of diesel fuel to be $ 3.45 per gallon.
