Volunteer Louisiana opens 2023 Americorps State and National grant funding | News

Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and Volunteer Louisiana announce a Notice of Funding Opportunity for 2023 AmeriCorps State and National Grants. This annual grant competition is open to governmental agencies, educational institutions, and non-profit entities interested in having an AmeriCorps program within their agency. Funded through the federal agency AmeriCorps, Volunteer Louisiana administers the AmeriCorps State Grants.

AmeriCorps State and National grants are awarded competitively to eligible organizations proposing to engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based interventions that improve lives and strengthen communities. Grants may be used to fund monthly living allowances for members, training, supplies, support staff, and other administrative costs.

AmeriCorps gives people an opportunity to serve their communities and help meet critical needs. At present, over 600 AmeriCorps members are serving in programs across the state as tutors, mentors, and teachers, improving health and safety outcomes for kids and families, addressing food insecurity, improving housing conditions, assisting veterans and military families, providing environmental stewardship, and responding to disasters. All AmeriCorps members earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award from the National Service Trust they can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans.

Initial applications are due to Volunteer Louisiana by October 21, 2022, at 11 pm For more information on how to apply and to access the grant application packet, please visit Volunteer Louisiana’s Grant Opportunities webpage.
